How to Set Up Outlook Express (MAC) for SMTP
Authentication.
- Open Outlook Express. Select Accounts from the Tools
menu.
- Make sure the Mail tab is selected, and click the New
button.
- If you see this window, click "Configure Account Manually" at the
bottom:
- Choose POP from the pop-up menu that will appear, and then say OK:
- Fill out the window as follows:
Account name: your-domain.com
Check Include this account...
Name: Your name
Email address: username@your-domain.com
Account ID: username@your-domain.com
POP server: mail.your-domain.com
Enter your password. If it's a secure computer, you can check Save
password.
SMTP server: Most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) now
require you to input their smtp server information in this box.
If they do not enter mail.yourdomain.com
- Don't say OK yet! Click the "Click here for advanced sending options"
button.
- Check SMTP server requires authentication and use the default
option of 'same settings as incoming mail server.'
- Click the small close box, say OK, and start sending and receiving
emails!
